Los suelos alcalinos o alcalinos son suelos arcillosos con alto pH, una pobre estructura del suelo y una baja capacidad de infiltración. A menudo tienen una capa calcárea dura a una profundidad de 0,5 a 1 metro. Los suelos alcalinos deben sus propiedades fisicoquímicas desfavorables principalmente a la presencia dominante de carbonato de sodio que hace que el suelo se hinche y difícil de aclarar / asentarse.
