Atrofia

La atrofia es el agotamiento parcial o completo de una parte del cuerpo. Las causas de la atrofia incluyen mutaciones, mala nutrición, mala circulación, pérdida del soporte hormonal, pérdida del suministro nervioso al órgano diana, cantidad excesiva de apoptosis de las células y desuso o falta de ejercicio o enfermedad intrínseca al propio tejido. Los insumos hormonales y nerviosos que mantienen un órgano o una parte del cuerpo se denominan tróficos en la práctica médica. Trófico describe la condición trófica del tejido. Una trófica muscular disminuida se designa como atrofia. La atrofia es el proceso fisiológico general de reabsorción y descomposición de los tejidos, que involucra apoptosis. Cuando se produce como resultado de una enfermedad o pérdida de apoyo trófico debido a otra enfermedad, se denomina atrofia patológica, aunque también puede ser parte del desarrollo normal del cuerpo y de la homeostasis.
