QUÉ SIGNIFICA BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER EN INGLÉS
Libro de oración común
El Libro de Oración Común es el título corto de un número de libros de oración relacionados usados en la Comunión Anglicana, así como por el Anglican Continuo, el "realineamiento anglicano" y otras iglesias anglicanas. El libro original, publicado en 1549, bajo el reinado de Eduardo VI, fue un producto de la Reforma inglesa tras la ruptura con Roma. Los libros de oración, a diferencia de los libros de oraciones, contienen las palabras de servicios estructurados de adoración. La obra de 1549 fue el primer libro de oraciones que incluyó las formas completas de servicio para el culto diario y el domingo en inglés. Contenía la Oración de la Mañana, la Oración Vespertina, la Letanía y la Sagrada Comunión y también los servicios ocasionales en su totalidad: las órdenes de Bautismo, Confirmación, Matrimonio, "oraciones a decir con los enfermos" y un servicio fúnebre. También expuso en su totalidad los "propers": las recopilaciones y las lecturas de la epístola y el evangelio para el servicio de la Comunión del domingo. Las lecturas del Antiguo Testamento y del Nuevo Testamento para la oración diaria fueron especificadas en formato tabular como lo fueron los Salmos; Y cánticos, en su mayoría bíblicos, que se proporcionaron para ser dichos o cantados entre las lecturas.
