Ceilómetro
Un ceilómetro es un dispositivo que utiliza un láser u otra fuente de luz para determinar la altura de una base de nubes. Los ceilómetros también se pueden usar para medir la concentración de aerosol en la atmósfera. Pueden a veces ser fatales a las aves, pues los animales se atrapan en rayos de luz y sufren agotamiento y colisiones con otras aves. En la peor grabación de rayos de luz de rayos láser no ceilométricos, aproximadamente 50.000 aves de 53 especies diferentes murieron en la Base de la Fuerza Aérea Warner Robins en los Estados Unidos durante una noche en 1954.
