Cebollino
Cebollino es el nombre común de Allium schoenoprasum, la especie más pequeña del género de cebolla comestible. Una planta perenne, es nativa de Europa, Asia y América del Norte. A. schoenoprasum es la única especie de Allium nativa tanto del Nuevo como del Viejo Mundo. El nombre de la especie deriva del griego skhoínos y práson. Su nombre en inglés, cebollino, deriva de la palabra francesa cive, de cepa, la palabra latina para la cebolla. La cebolleta es una hierba de uso común y se puede encontrar en tiendas de abarrotes o cultivadas en huertos caseros. En el uso culinario, los scapes y los brotes florales sin abrir, inmaduros se cortan en cuadritos y se utilizan como ingrediente para los pescados, las patatas, las sopas, y otros platos. Cebollas tienen repelente de insectos propiedades que se pueden utilizar en los jardines para controlar las plagas.
