Epilobium hirsutum es una planta en flor perteneciente al género Willowherb Epilobium de la familia Onagraceae. La gama nativa de la especie incluye la mayor parte de Europa, el norte de África y partes de Asia. Está ausente de gran parte de Escandinavia y del noroeste de Escocia. Se ha introducido en Norteamérica y Australia. Normalmente crece en hábitats húmedos o húmedos, sin una densa capa de árboles hasta 2.500 metros sobre el nivel del mar. Los hábitats comunes incluyen marismas, zanjas y las orillas de ríos y arroyos.
