Democracia

El término se origina del griego δημοκρατία "gobierno del pueblo", que fue encontrado de δῆμος "pueblo" y κράτος "poder" o "regla" en el siglo V aC para denotar los sistemas políticos entonces existentes en las ciudades-estado griegas, Atenas; El término es un antónimo de ἀριστοκρατία "regla de una élite". Aunque teóricamente estas definiciones están en oposición, en la práctica la distinción ha sido borrosa históricamente.
