Sinistral y dextral son términos científicos que describen la quiralidad o la dirección relativa en una serie de disciplinas. Los términos se derivan de las palabras latinas para "izquierda" y "derecha". Otras disciplinas tienen términos diferentes o simplemente usan la izquierda y la derecha. La dirección relativa y la quiralidad son conceptos distintos. La dirección relativa es desde el punto de vista del observador.
