QUÉ SIGNIFICA ELECTROWEAK EN INGLÉS

En física de partículas, la interacción electroweak es la descripción unificada de dos de las cuatro interacciones fundamentales conocidas de la naturaleza: el electromagnetismo y la interacción débil. Aunque estas dos fuerzas parecen muy diferentes en las bajas energías cotidianas, la teoría las modela como dos aspectos diferentes de la misma fuerza. Por encima de la energía de unificación, del orden de 100 GeV, se fusionarían en una única fuerza electro-eléctrica. Por lo tanto, si el universo es lo suficientemente caliente, la fuerza electromagnética y la fuerza débil se fusionan en una fuerza combinada electrodébil. Durante la época electroweak, la fuerza electroweak separó de la fuerza fuerte. Durante la época del quark, la fuerza electroweak se dividió en la fuerza electromagnética y débil. Para las contribuciones a la unificación de la interacción débil y electromagnética entre partículas elementales, Abdus Salam, Sheldon Glashow y Steven Weinberg recibieron el Premio Nobel de Física en 1979.
