El Escorial
El Sitio Real de San Lorenzo de El Escorial es una residencia histórica del Rey de España, en la localidad de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a unos 45 kilómetros al noroeste de la capital, Madrid, en España. Es uno de los sitios reales españoles y funciona como monasterio, palacio real, museo y escuela. Hay otro pueblo, 2.06 km más abajo en el valle, llamado 'El Escorial'. El Escorial comprende dos complejos arquitectónicos de gran importancia histórica y cultural: el monasterio real y La Granjilla de La Fresneda, un pabellón de caza real y un refugio monástico a cinco kilómetros de distancia. Estos sitios tienen una naturaleza dual; Es decir, durante los siglos XVI y XVII, fueron lugares en los que el poder de la monarquía española y el predominio eclesiástico de la religión católica en España encontraron una manifestación arquitectónica común. El Escorial era, a la vez, un monasterio y un palacio real español. Originalmente una propiedad de los monjes jerónimos, ahora es un monasterio de la Orden de San Agustín.
