Excreción
La excreción es el proceso por el cual los productos de desecho del metabolismo y otros materiales no útiles se eliminan de un organismo. En los vertebrados esto es principalmente realizado por los pulmones, los riñones y la piel. Esto está en contraste con la secreción, donde la sustancia puede tener tareas específicas después de salir de la célula. La excreción es un proceso esencial en todas las formas de vida. En los mamíferos, la orina se lleva a cabo a través de la uretra y forma parte del sistema excretor. En organismos unicelulares, los productos de desecho se descargan directamente a través de la superficie de la célula. Estructura química del ácido úrico.
