Pueden ser de diferentes tinturas, como en el escudo de la Unión Agrícola Femenina del Estado Libre donde son naranjas / tenny y azur. Flaunches pueden tocarse, como en la capa de Bradley Hook. Como cualquier ordinario, pueden ▪ ser acusados de otras cosas, como en los abrigos ingleses del Consejo de Distrito de Harlow y del Consejo de Distrito de Forest of Dean. ▪ tener colorantes distintos de los llanos, como en la capa inglesa del Consejo del Distrito Urbano de Hoylake y el Canadiense del Servicio de Policía de Saanich Central. ▪ tener bordes ornamentados, como en el escudo galés del Ayuntamiento de Maesteg. Una variación muy rara es flaunches cuadrados, como en la capa de Sheila-Marie Suzanne Cook y el abrigo de la secoya de los guardacostas de los EEUU Sequoia. El glosario de Parker, s.v. Flaunches, cita dos capas similares para Mosylton o Moselton con flaunches cuadrados.
