Hipertexto
El hipertexto es el texto que se muestra en la pantalla de un ordenador u otros dispositivos electrónicos con referencias a otro texto al que el lector puede acceder inmediatamente o donde el texto puede revelarse progresivamente en múltiples niveles de detalle. Las páginas de hipertexto están interconectadas por hipervínculos, normalmente activados por un clic del ratón, una secuencia de teclas o tocando la pantalla. Aparte del texto, a veces se utiliza el hipertexto para describir tablas, imágenes y otras formas de contenido de presentación con hipervínculos. El hipertexto es el concepto subyacente que define la estructura de la World Wide Web, con páginas escritas a menudo en el Hypertext Markup Language. Permite una conexión flexible y fácil de usar y el intercambio de información a través de Internet. Nótese cómo el hipertexto no es sólo texto plano con toques de luz o párrafos omitidos durante la visualización, sino más bien, el texto es hiper-estructurada con hipervínculos u otras estructuras incrustadas dentro de una página, incluyendo las palabras de búsqueda ocultos, para controlar la visualización y la conexión con otras páginas o Nodos de hipertexto.

So, that notion of hypertext seemed to me immediately obvious because footnotes were already the ideas wriggling, struggling to get free, like a cat trying to get out of your arms.
