Ignitron
Un ignitrón es un tipo de tubo lleno de gas utilizado como rectificador controlado y que data de la década de 1930. Inventado por Joseph Slepian mientras trabajaba para Westinghouse, Westinghouse era el fabricante original y poseía los derechos de marca registrada del nombre "Ignitron". Los ignitrones están estrechamente relacionados con las válvulas de arco de mercurio, pero difieren en la forma en que se enciende el arco. Funcionan de manera similar a los tiratrones; Un impulso de disparo al electrodo de encendido hace que el dispositivo se "encienda", permitiendo que fluya una corriente alta entre los electrodos de cátodo y ánodo. Después de que se enciende, la corriente a través del ánodo debe reducirse a cero para restaurar el dispositivo a su estado no conductor.
