Cuenta conjunta es una cuenta bancaria compartida por dos o más personas. Cualquier persona que sea miembro de la cuenta conjunta puede retirarse de la cuenta y depositarla en ella. Por lo general, las cuentas conjuntas se comparten entre parientes cercanos o socios comerciales. A menudo se crean cuentas conjuntas para evitar las sucesiones. Si dos personas abren una cuenta conjunta y una de ellas muere, la otra persona tiene derecho al saldo restante y es responsable de la deuda de esa cuenta. A veces una cuenta conjunta temporal es abierta por dos partes que participan en una transacción en la que una parte necesita una garantía para el cumplimiento de la transacción y la otra parte tiene que pagar la suma, siendo la seguridad para la otra parte. Cualquier pago de la cuenta conjunta, o devolución del depósito de la cuenta conjunta, sólo será posible si ambas partes firman una instrucción escrita conjunta al banco. No es posible que sólo una de las partes dé instrucciones para el pago de la cuenta conjunta. Debido a que los bancos no están muy interesados en la apertura de cuentas conjuntas temporales, ya que normalmente se utilizan para una sola transacción, hay partidos especializados o empresas que se ocupan de tales cuentas como fideicomisarios.
