Cúfico
Kufic es la forma caligráfica más antigua de los varios escritos árabes y consiste en una forma modificada de la antigua escritura nabatea. Kufic se desarrolló alrededor de finales del siglo VII en Kufa, Iraq, de la que toma su nombre, y otros centros. Hasta alrededor del siglo XI era el guión principal usado para copiar Corán. Los copistas profesionales emplearon una forma particular de kufic para reproducir las primeras copias sobrevivientes del Corán, las cuales fueron escritas en pergamino y datan de los siglos VIII al X.
