Lector de lay
Un lector laico es un laico autorizado por un obispo en la Comunión Anglicana para leer algunas partes de un servicio de adoración. Son miembros de la congregación a quienes se les permite predicar y presidir algunos servicios, pero no son llamados a ministerio de tiempo completo. Los lectores laicos anglicanos son licenciados por el obispo en una parroquia particular o en la diócesis en general. En el primer caso, en algunas áreas, su mandato expira con la renuncia del párroco. En la tradición anglicana, el papel de los lectores con licencia, cuya prominencia varía según la región, es similar al de un predicador laico inconformista, y puede involucrar: ▪ Realización de Mattins, Evensong y Compline ▪ Recitación de la letanía ▪ Publicación de banns de Matrimonio ▪ Predicar, enseñar y asistir en la pastoral ▪ Realizar funerales ▪ Distribuir la Sagrada Comunión. Aunque en muchas parroquias, estos deberes pueden ser realizados por cualquier laico razonablemente competente que ha sido debidamente instruido, la clave de la licencia del lector es que él o ella se les permite hacer en ausencia de un sacerdote. Los lectores autorizados tienen derecho a usar un tippet azul con vestido de coro.
