La legislación es la ley que ha sido promulgada por una legislatura u otro órgano de gobierno, o el proceso de hacerlo. Antes de que un elemento de la legislación se convierta en ley, puede ser conocido como un proyecto de ley, y puede ser ampliamente referido como "legislación", mientras que se sigue considerando para distinguirlo de otros negocios. La legislación puede tener muchos propósitos: regular, autorizar, proscribir, proveer, sancionar, otorgar, declarar o restringir.
