Microencapsulación
Microencapsulación es un proceso en el que pequeñas partículas o gotitas están rodeadas por un recubrimiento para dar pequeñas cápsulas de muchas propiedades útiles. En general, se utiliza para incorporar ingredientes alimenticios, enzimas, células u otros materiales en una escala micro métrica. La microencapsulación también se puede usar para encerrar sólidos, líquidos o gases dentro de una pared micrométrica de película dura o blanda soluble, con el fin de reducir la frecuencia de dosificación y prevenir la degradación de productos farmacéuticos. En una forma relativamente simple, una microcápsula es una esfera pequeña con una pared uniforme alrededor de la misma. El material dentro de la microcápsula se denomina núcleo, fase interna o relleno, mientras que la pared se denomina a veces cubierta, recubrimiento o membrana. Algunos materiales como lípidos y polímeros, como el alginato, se pueden usar como una mezcla para atrapar el material de interés interior. La mayoría de las microcápsulas tienen poros con diámetros entre unos pocos micrómetros y unos pocos milímetros. Los materiales de revestimiento utilizados generalmente para el revestimiento son: 1.
