Pantomima

Pantomima, es un tipo de producción musical de comedia musical, diseñada para el entretenimiento familiar. Se desarrolló en Inglaterra y se realiza generalmente durante la temporada de Navidad y Año Nuevo. La pantomima moderna incluye canciones, comedia y baile, emplea a actores que cruzan el género, y combina humor tópico con una historia libremente basada en un cuento de hadas conocido. Es una forma participativa de teatro, en la que se espera que el público cante junto con ciertas partes de la música y grita frases a los intérpretes. La pantomima tiene una larga historia teatral en la cultura occidental que se remonta al teatro clásico, y se desarrolló en parte de la tradición commedia dell'arte de Italia del siglo XVI, así como otras tradiciones escénicas europeas y británicas, como las mascaras del siglo XVII. Una parte importante de la pantomima, hasta finales del siglo XIX, era la arlequinada. La pantomima se realiza hoy en día en toda Gran Bretaña y, en menor medida, en otros países de habla inglesa.
