Pentodo
Un pentodo es un dispositivo electrónico que tiene cinco electrodos activos. El término se aplica más comúnmente a un tubo de vacío amplificador de tres rejillas, que fue inventado por el holandés Bernhard DH Tellegen en 1926. El pentodo consiste en una envoltura de vidrio evacuada que contiene cinco electrodos en este orden: un cátodo calentado por un filamento, Rejilla, una rejilla de pantalla, una rejilla supresora y una placa. El pentodo se desarrolló a partir del tubo de tetrodo mediante la adición de una tercera rejilla, la rejilla supresora. Esto sirvió para evitar que los electrones de emisión secundaria emitidos por la placa alcanzaran la rejilla de la pantalla, lo que causó inestabilidad y oscilaciones parasitarias en el tetrodo. El pentodo está estrechamente relacionado con el tetrodo del haz. Los pentodos fueron ampliamente utilizados en equipos electrónicos industriales y de consumo, tales como radios y televisores hasta la década de 1960, cuando fueron reemplazados por transistores.
