Prusia
Prusia (alemán: Preußen (ayuda · info)) era un reino alemán y un estado histórico que se originó fuera del Ducado de Prusia y el Margraviate de Brandeburgo y centrado en la región de Prusia. Durante siglos, la Casa de Hohenzollern gobernó Prusia, ampliando con éxito su tamaño por medio de un ejército inusualmente bien organizado y eficaz. Prusia formó la historia de Alemania, con su capital en Berlín después de 1451. En 1871, los estados alemanes unidos en la creación del Imperio alemán bajo el liderazgo prusiano. En noviembre de 1918, las monarquías fueron abolidas y la nobleza perdió su poder político. Prusia fue abolida efectivamente en 1932 y oficialmente abolida en 1947. El nombre Prusia deriva de los viejos prusianos. En el siglo XIII, los cruzados alemanes, los Caballeros Teutónicos, conquistaron "Prusia Antigua". En 1308 los Caballeros Teutónicos conquistaron la antigua región polaca de Pomerelia con Gdansk (Danzig). Su estado monástico fue en su mayoría germanizado a través de la inmigración de Alemania central y occidental y en el sur, fue polonizado por los colonos de Masovia.
