Radar
El radar es un sistema de detección de objetos que utiliza ondas de radio para determinar el alcance, la altitud, la dirección o la velocidad de los objetos. Puede ser utilizado para detectar aviones, barcos, naves espaciales, misiles guiados, vehículos de motor, formaciones meteorológicas y terreno. La antena o antena de radar transmite pulsos de ondas de radio o microondas que rebotan de cualquier objeto en su camino. El objeto devuelve una pequeña parte de la energía de la onda a un plato o antena que normalmente se encuentra en el mismo sitio que el transmisor. La definición de radar en el diccionario es un método para detectar la posición y la velocidad de un objeto distante, como una aeronave. Un haz estrecho de pulsos de radio de frecuencia extremadamente alta se transmite y refleja por el objeto de vuelta al transmisor, siendo la señal se muestra en un radarescopio. La dirección del haz reflejado y el tiempo entre la transmisión y la recepción de un pulso determinan la posición del objeto. Nombre anterior: radiolocalización.
