En la mitología griega, un sátiro es uno de una tropa de compañeros masculinos de Pan y Dionysus con rasgos de cabra, como una cola de cabra, orejas de cabra y, a veces, un falo de cabra. En la mitología romana existe un concepto similar con rasgos similares a la cabra, siendo el fauno medio hombre, mitad cabra.
