Secreción
La secreción es el proceso de elaboración, liberación y exudación de productos químicos, o una sustancia química secretada de una célula o glándula. En contraste con la excreción, la sustancia puede tener una función determinada, en lugar de ser un producto de desecho. El mecanismo clásico de la secreción celular es a través de portales secretores en la membrana plasmática de la célula llamados porosomas. Los porosomas son estructuras de lipoproteínas en forma de copa permanentes en la membrana plasmática celular, donde las vesículas secretoras se acoplan transitoriamente y se fusionan para liberar contenido intra-vesicular de la célula. La secreción en especies bacterianas significa el transporte o translocación de moléculas efectoras, por ejemplo: proteínas, enzimas o toxinas desde el interior de una célula bacteriana hasta su exterior. La secreción es un mecanismo muy importante en el funcionamiento bacteriano y la operación en su entorno natural para la adaptación y la supervivencia.
