Ética situacional
La ética situacional, o ética de la situación, tiene en cuenta el contexto particular de un acto cuando se evalúa éticamente, en lugar de juzgarlo de acuerdo con normas morales absolutas. En la ética de la situación, dentro de cada contenido no es una ley universal que ha de ser seguida, sino la ley del amor. La palabra griega usada para describir el amor en la Biblia es "ágape". Ágape es el tipo de amor que muestra preocupación por los demás, cuidando de ellos tanto como cuidar de ti mismo. El amor ágape no tiene nada que ver con él, no busca nada a cambio. Amas a alguien completamente incondicionalmente. Los primeros defensores de los enfoques situacionales de la ética incluyeron Kierkegaard, Sartre, Beauvoir, Jaspers y Heidegger. En la primera mitad del siglo XX, Rudolf Bultmann, John A. T. Robinson y Joseph Fletcher propusieron específicamente formas de ética situacional que colocaban amor sobre todos los principios o reglas particulares. Estos teólogos apuntan específicamente a agapē, o amor incondicional, como el fin más elevado.
