Telesoftware
La palabra telesoftware fue acuñada por W J G Overington quien primero propuso la idea; Literalmente significa "software a distancia" y se refiere a la transmisión de programas para un microprocesador o computadoras personales a través de teletexto de emisión. Los bytes de software se presentan a un terminal como pares de caracteres de teletexto estándar, utilizando así un sistema de radiodifusión existente y probado. Pionero en el Reino Unido durante los años setenta y ochenta. Durante ese tiempo, el software fue transmitido en varias ocasiones en todos los canales de televisión terrestre. Telesoftware estaba disponible en Ceefax para el microordenador de la BBC vía su adaptador del teletexto a partir de 1983-89 y fue transmitido generalmente por un período de una semana. La descarga podría tener lugar desde el viernes por la noche hasta la siguiente noche del jueves. Como la actualización se llevó a cabo en un viernes, se aconsejó no intentar descargar software entre las 9 am y 7 pm los viernes. Otros canales proporcionan varios otros ordenadores a través de una gama de adaptadores y decodificadores.
