La tecnología de restricción del uso genético, conocida coloquialmente como tecnología de terminación o semillas suicidas, es el nombre dado a los métodos propuestos para restringir el uso de plantas genéticamente modificadas haciendo que las semillas de segunda generación sean estériles. La tecnología se desarrolló en el marco de un acuerdo cooperativo de investigación y desarrollo entre el Servicio de Investigación Agrícola del Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos y la empresa Delta and Pine Land en los años noventa, pero aún no está comercialmente disponible. La tecnología fue discutida durante la VIII Conferencia de las Partes del Convenio de las Naciones Unidas sobre la Diversidad Biológica en Curitiba, Brasil, del 20 al 31 de marzo de 2006.
