La tetraedrita es un mineral de sulfosal de cobre antimonio con la fórmula: 12Sb4S13. Es el miembro final de antimonio de la serie de soluciones sólidas continuas con arsénico que contiene tennantite. Los extremistas puros de la serie rara vez se ven en la naturaleza. De los dos, la fase rica en antimonio es más común. Otros elementos también se sustituyen en la estructura, sobre todo el hierro y el zinc, junto con plata menos común, el mercurio y el plomo. El bismuto también sustituye al sitio de antimonio y la tetraedrita bismutiana o annivite es una variedad reconocida. La relacionada, la plata dominante, la especie freibergite mineral, aunque rara, es notable en que puede contener hasta el 18% de plata. Ocurre en venas hidrotermales de baja a moderada temperatura y en algunos depósitos metamórficos de contacto. Es un mineral menor de cobre y metales asociados.
