Transcripción (genética)
La transcripción es el primer paso de la expresión génica, en el que un segmento particular de ADN es copiado en ARN por la enzima RNA polimerasa. Tanto el ARN como el ADN son ácidos nucleicos que utilizan pares de bases de nucleótidos como un lenguaje complementario que puede convertirse de ida y vuelta de ADN a ARN por la acción de las enzimas correctas. Durante la transcripción, una secuencia de ADN es leída por una ARN polimerasa, que produce una cadena de ARN complementaria, antiparalela llamada transcripción primaria. A diferencia de la replicación del ADN, la transcripción da lugar a un complemento de ARN que incluye el nucleótido uracilo en todos los casos en los que la timina se hubiera producido en un complemento de ADN. También a diferencia de la replicación del ADN donde se sintetiza el ADN, la transcripción no implica un cebador de ARN para iniciar la síntesis de ARN. La transcripción puede reducirse a los siguientes pasos, cada movimiento como una onda a lo largo del ADN. ▪ Uno o más factores sigma inician la transcripción de un gen al permitir la unión de la ARN polimerasa al ADN promotor.
