Trilithon
Un trilithon es una estructura que consiste en dos piedras verticales grandes que sostienen una tercera piedra fijada horizontalmente a través de la tapa. Se utiliza comúnmente en el contexto de monumentos megalíticos. Los trilithons más famosos son los de Stonehenge en Inglaterra y los encontrados en los templos megalíticos de Malta, ambos de los cuales son Patrimonio de la Humanidad de la UNESCO. La palabra trilithon se deriva del griego "tener tres piedras" y fue utilizado por primera vez por William Stukeley. El término también describe los grupos de tres piedras en las tumbas Hunebed de los Países Bajos y las tres piedras masivas que forman parte de la pared del Templo Romano de Júpiter en Baalbek, Líbano. Lejos de Europa y Oriente Medio, otro trilithon famoso es el Ha'amonga'a Maui en Tonga, Polinesia.
