La carga del hombre blanco
"La carga del hombre blanco" es un poema del poeta inglés Rudyard Kipling. Originalmente fue publicado en la popular revista McClure en 1899, con el subtítulo Los Estados Unidos y las Islas Filipinas. El poema fue escrito originalmente para el Jubileo de Diamante de la Reina Victoria, pero cambiado por "Recessional"; Kipling cambió el texto de "Burden" para reflejar el tema de la colonización americana de Filipinas, ganada recientemente de España en la guerra hispanoamericana. El poema consiste en siete estrofas, siguiendo un esquema regular de la rima. A primera vista, parece ser una orden retórica a los hombres blancos para colonizar y gobernar a otras naciones en beneficio de esas personas.
