एक प्रकार का यंत्र या
पात्र जिसमें अर्क खींचे जाते तथा सिंगरफ का पारा, कपूर,
नौसादर आदि उड़ाए जाते हैं ।
विशेष—यह दो घड़ों का मुँह मिलाकर और कपड़मिट्टी से
जोड़कर बनाया जाता है । जिस वस्तु का अर्क खींचना होता
है उसे घड़ों का मुँह जोड़ने के पहले पानी के साथ एक घड़े
में रख देते हैं ओर फिर सारे यंत्र को (अर्थात् दोनों जुड़े
घड़ों को) इस प्रकार आड़ा रखते हैं कि एक घड़ा आँच पर
रहता है और दूसरा ठंढ़ी जगह पर । आँख लगने से वस्तु
मिले हुए पानी की भाप उड़कर दूसरे घड़े में जाकर टपकती है । यही टपका हुआ जल उस वस्तु का अर्क होता है ।
सिंगरफ से पारा उड़ाने के लिये घड़ों को खड़े भल नीचे ऊपर
रखते हैं । नीचे रके घड़े के पेंदे में आँच लगती है और ऊपर के
घड़ें के पेंदे को गीला कपड़ा आदि रखकर ठंढा रखते हैं ।
आँख लगने पर सिंगरफ से पारा उड़कर ऊपरवाले घड़े के
पेंदे में जम जाता है ।
