Datu o datto es el título para el jefe de un clan o rey en las Filipinas antes de que fuera colonizado por España. Este título aún lo usan sus descendientes en Filipinas. La palabra datu puede referenciarse proviene del manuscrito Batu Batu Ensemble manuscrito en Palembang, donde en la fila 11 hay una palabra del dios que se interpreta igual que el palacio o palacio que tiene el mismo significado que el palacio del rey, por lo que el ritmo es el mismo que la región datu. Entonces el datu significa lo mismo que el Rey. Además, este datu cambió la narración en "abuelo", un título que todavía se usa en Malasia, Brunei e Indonesia.
