Fronton, estribo - en la arquitectura clásica baja triangular superior del porche, limitado por los bordes laterales del techo a dos aguas. Se usa en los templos griegos desde aproximadamente 650 aC. El área frontal interna, lisa o rellena con una decoración tallada, se llama tímpano. Como elemento ornamental, también se utiliza como parte superior decorativa de marcos de puertas y ventanas, portales, altares, nichos, etc. En la arquitectura moderna también se pueden ver frentes que forman parte de un círculo, semicircular, interrumpido o reproducido. Fronton, przyczółek – w architekturze klasycznej niski trójkątny szczyt nad portykiem, ograniczony krawędziami bocznymi dachu dwuspadowego. Stosowany w świątyniach greckich od ok. 650 r. p.n.e.. Wewnętrzne pole frontonu, gładkie lub wypełnione dekoracją rzeźbiarską, nosi nazwę tympanonu. Jako element ornamentowy stosowany jest także jako dekoracyjne zwieńczenie obramowań okiennych i drzwiowych, portali, ołtarzy, nisz itd. W architekturze nowożytnej spotkać można również frontony stanowiące segment kręgu, półowalne, przerywane lub gierowane. Błędne jest określanie tym terminem fasady budowli.
