Homer - Cantante errante griego, épico, cantante y recitador. Él es considerado el padre de la poesía épica. El poeta europeo conocido más antiguo, que probablemente se hizo cargo del legado de una larga y rica tradición oral de poesía heroica. Sus obras incluyen la Ilíada y la Odisea. La tradición griega también vio al autor de las épicas heroicas de Batrachomyomachia y Margites, y de los himnos homéricos. Ningún poeta griego estaba más allá de la fama de Homero.
