Nubia

Nubia: un territorio histórico ubicado en el noreste de África, en el sur de Egipto y el norte de Sudán. Ocupa el curso medio del Nilo entre Asuán y Jartum. En la antigüedad, Kush estaba habitado por un pueblo relacionado con los egipcios, que a mediados del segundo milenio antes de Cristo. Estaba mezclado con tribus que fluían del sur. Nubia fue invadida repetidamente por Egipto debido a las grandes reservas de oro allí. Nubia fue conquistada por los faraones de la dinastía XVIII y en los años 1570-1345 p.n.e. era una parte integral de su estado. Solo en los años 1200-1085 p.n.e. Nubia recuperó su independencia. W starożytności zwana Kusz, zamieszkana była przez lud spokrewniony z Egipcjanami, który w połowie II tysiąclecia p.n.e. uległ wymieszaniu z napływającymi od południa plemionami. Nubia była wielokrotnie najeżdżana przez Egipt ze względu na znajdujące się tam duże zasoby złota. Nubia została podbita przez faraonów XVIII dynastii i w latach 1570-1345 p.n.e. była integralną częścią ich państwa. Dopiero w latach 1200-1085 p.n.e. Nubia odzyskała niepodległość. Powstało wtedy samodzielne królestwo Kuszytów ze stolicą w Napata. Od III wieku p.n.e. stolica znajdowała się w Meroe. W latach 715-663 p.n.e. Nubia zawładnęła Egiptem. Podczas rzymskiego panowania w Egipcie w 27 r. p.n.e., za rządów królowej Kandake, jej wojska zaatakowały Rzymian. Po początkowych sukcesach rzymskie wojska wyparły Nubijczyków i poprowadziły kontrofensywę zajmując Napatę. Po zawarciu układu pokojowego Rzymianie wycofali się z Nubii.
