Lenguaje de programación lógica El lenguaje informático de quinta generación utilizado en aplicaciones de inteligencia artificial. Fue inventado por Alain Colmerauer y su grupo de trabajo en la Universidad de Marsella Aix en Francia a principios de los años setenta. El francés proviene de la palabra "Programmation en Logique". Los estudios realizados para garantizar que la lógica se pueda utilizar directamente como un lenguaje informático también cobraron impulso a principios de los años ochenta. En 1981, el interés japonés en el tema se ha incrementado enormemente con el anuncio del proyecto informático de quinta generación. Prolog ha publicado varios libros sobre varios objetivos y niveles, y ha establecido un estándar de idioma. Para que una computadora pueda resolver un problema específico, es necesario proporcionar información sobre el problema y la solución. Se puede comunicar con computadoras humanas a través de lenguajes de programación. Mantığın doğrudan doğruya bir bilgisayar dili olarak kullanılabilmesini sağlamak amacıyla yapılan çalışmalar da 1980 yıllarının başlarında da yoğunluk kazanmıştır. 1981 yılında Japonlar beşinci nesil bilgisayar projesini açıklamalarıyla da konuya olan ilgi büyük bir ölçüde artmıştır. Prolog üzerine çeşitli amaç ve seviyelerde birçok kitap yayınlanmış ve dilin bir standardı oluşmuştur. Bilgisayarın belirli bir problemi çözebilmesi için kendisine problemle ve çözüm yoluyla ilgili bilgi verilmesi gereklidir. Programlama dilleri aracılığıyla insan bilgisayarlarla iletişim kurabilir. Prolog mantıksal ve sembolik düşünmeye uygun yapısıyla, problemin tanımlanması ve çözümü için gerekli yöntemlerin geliştirilmesi aşamalarında insanoğluna yardımcı olan bir araçtır.
