Albite
L'albite est un minéral de feldspath plagioclase. C'est le consommateur de sodium de la série de solutions solides plagioclase. En tant que tel, il représente un plagioclase avec moins de 10% de contenu anorthite. L'extrémité pure d'albite a la formule NaAlSi3O8. C'est un tectosilicate. Sa couleur est généralement pure en blanc, d'où son nom de latin albus. C'est un constituant commun dans les roches felsiques. Albite Albite cristallise avec des formes pinacoïdes tricliniques. Sa densité spécifique est d'environ 2,62 et elle a une dureté Mohs de 6 à 6,5. L'albine présente presque toujours des jumelages de cristaux sous forme de petites stries parallèles sur le front de cristal. L'albite se produit souvent comme de bonnes ségrégations parallèles alternant avec le microcline rose en perthite à la suite de l'exolution lors du refroidissement. Il se produit dans les masses granitiques et de pegmatite, dans certains dépôts de veines hydrothermales et fait partie des faciès métamorphiques greenschist typiques pour les roches de composition initialement basaltique. Il a d'abord été signalé en 1815 pour une occurrence dans Finnbo, Falun, Dalarna, Suède.
