Coordonnées: 53 ° 23'02 "N 2 ° 21'17" W / 53.3838 ° N 2.3547 ° W / 53.3838; -2.3547 Altrincham est une ville de marché située dans l'arrondissement métropolitain de Trafford, dans le Grand Manchester, en Angleterre. Il se trouve au sud de la rivière Mersey à environ 8 milles au sud-ouest du centre-ville de Manchester, à 3 miles au sud-sud-ouest de Sale et à 10 milles à l'est de Warrington. À partir du recensement du Royaume-Uni de 2001, il avait une population d'environ 41 000. Historiquement, une partie du Cheshire, Altrincham a été créée en 1290 comme une ville de marché, époque où la plupart des communautés étaient basées autour de l'agriculture plutôt que du commerce, et il existe encore aujourd'hui un marché dans la ville. D'autres développements socioéconomiques sont venus avec l'extension du canal Bridgewater à Altrincham en 1765 et l'arrivée du chemin de fer en 1849, stimulant l'activité industrielle dans la ville.
