L'ankylostomiase est l'état d'infection par les ankylostomes ankylostomes. Le nom est dérivé de l'ancylos grecs αγκυλος "torréfié, plié" et stoma στομα "bouche". L'ancylostomose est également connue sous le nom d'anémie mineur, de maladie de tunnel, d'anémie de briqueuse et de chlorose égyptienne.
