Assises
Les tribunaux d'assises ou d'assises étaient des tribunaux pénaux périodiques tenus autour d'Angleterre et du Pays de Galles jusqu'en 1972, alors que, conjointement avec le quart de séance, ils étaient supprimés par la Cour 1971 et remplacés par un seul tribunal permanent de la Couronne. Les assises ont entendu les cas les plus graves, qui ont été engagés par le quart de séance, tandis que les délits plus mineurs ont été traités sommairement par les juges de paix en petites sessions. Le mot assise se réfère aux séances ou aux séances des juges, connues sous le nom de «juges d'assises», qui étaient des juges de la Cour du Banc du Roi de la Haute Cour de Justice qui ont parcouru les sept circuits d'Angleterre et du Pays de Galles sur des commissions de «Oyer Et terminer ", la mise en place d'un tribunal et la convocation de jurys aux différentes villes d'assises.
