En physique nucléaire, la désintégration bêta est un type de désintégration radioactive dans lequel une particule bêta est émise à partir d'un noyau atomique. La dégradation bêta est un processus qui permet à l'atome d'obtenir le rapport optimal des protons et des neutrons. La dégradation bêta est médiée par la force faible. Il existe deux sous-types de désintégration bêta: beta moins et beta plus. La diminution de la diminution de la bêta moins un électron, tandis que la diminution de la baisse de bêta entraîne l'émission d'un positron et est donc appelée émission de positron. Un exemple d'émission d'électrons est affiché lorsque le carbone 14 se désintègre dans l'azote: 14: 14 6C → 14 7N + e- + ν e Remarquez comment, dans l'émission d'électrons, un antinutrino-électron est également émis. Dans cette forme de désintégration, l'élément original s'est détérioré en un nouvel élément avec un nombre de masse A inchangé mais un numéro atomique Z qui a augmenté d'un seul. Un exemple d'émission de positron est affiché avec du magnésium-23 en décomposition en sodium-23: 23 12Mg → 23 11Na + e + + ν e Contrairement aux émissions d'électrons, l'émission de positons s'accompagne de l'émission d'un neutrino électronique.
