Dose de rappel
En médecine, une dose de rappel est une administration supplémentaire d'un vaccin après une dose antérieure. Après l'immunisation initiale, une injection de rappel ou une dose de rappel est une ré-exposition à la cellule antigénique immunisée. Il est destiné à augmenter l'immunité contre cet antigène de retour à des niveaux de protection après avoir montré qu'il avait diminué ou après une période spécifiée. Par exemple, les amplificateurs de tétanos sont souvent recommandés tous les 10 ans. Si un patient reçoit une dose de rappel mais présente déjà un niveau élevé d'anticorps, une réaction appelée une réaction d'Arthus pourrait se développer, une forme localisée d'hypersensibilité au Type III, induite par la fixation du complément par des anticorps circulants préformés. Dans les cas graves, le degré de fixation du complément peut être si important qu'il induit une nécrose tissulaire locale.
