Péninsule de Boothia
La péninsule de Boothia est une grande péninsule du nord de l'Arctique canadien au Nunavut, au sud de l'île de Somerset. La partie nord, Murchison Promontory, est le point le plus au nord du continent canadien et donc l'Amérique du Nord. Le détroit de Bellot sépare la péninsule de l'île de Somerset au nord. Babbage Bay se trouve sur la côte est, tout comme Abernethy Bay, juste au sud. La communauté de Taloyoak se trouve dans l'extrême sud et est son seul centre de population important. Paisley Bay se trouve sur la côte ouest, tout comme Wrottesley Inlet. John Ross a été gelé pendant quatre ans à son point le plus à l'est à partir de 1829. Il l'a nommé après son patron, Sir Felix Booth. Ross a rencontré une grande communauté inuite qu'il a qualifiée de «maisons de neige» et immortalisée dans la peinture North de Hendon de Ross. En 1831, son neveu James Clark Ross passa par terre et atteignit le pôle magnétique nord qui était alors sur son côté ouest. Il a également traversé l'ouest jusqu'à l'île King William. La première traversée réussie de Roald Amundsen du passage du Nord-Ouest et la deuxième traversée réussie de Henry Larsen du passage du Nord-Ouest ont traversé le détroit de Bellot.
