Pont (dentisterie)
Un pont est une restauration dentaire fixe utilisée pour remplacer une dent manquante en joignant une dent artificielle en permanence aux dents adjacentes ou aux implants dentaires. Les types de ponts peuvent varier en fonction de leur fabrication et de leur ancrage sur les dents adjacentes. D'une manière conventionnelle, les ponts sont fabriqués à l'aide de la méthode de restauration indirecte. Cependant, les ponts peuvent être fabriqués directement dans la bouche en utilisant des matériaux tels que la résine composite. Un pont est fabriqué en réduisant les dents de chaque côté de la dent manquante ou des dents par un motif de préparation déterminé par l'emplacement des dents et par le matériau à partir duquel le pont est fabriqué. En d'autres termes, les dents de butée sont réduites en taille pour tenir compte du matériau à utiliser pour restaurer la taille et la forme des dents d'origine dans un alignement correct et le contact avec les dents opposées. Les matériaux utilisés pour les ponts comprennent l'or, la porcelaine fusionnée au métal, ou dans la bonne situation, la porcelaine seule.
