Papier carbone
Le papier à base de carbone était à l'origine revêtu d'un seul côté avec une couche d'une encre sèche ou d'un revêtement pigmenté lâchement lié, lié à de la cire, utilisé pour réaliser une ou plusieurs copies simultanément avec la création d'un document original lors de l'utilisation d'une machine à écrire ou d'un stylo à bille. La fabrication du papier carbone était autrefois le plus grand consommateur de cire de montan. En 1954, le Columbia Ribbon \u0026 amp; Carbon Manufacturing Company a déposé un brevet pour ce qui est devenu connu dans le commerce comme papier à base de solvants: le revêtement a été changé de la base de la cire à celle du polymère. Le processus de fabrication a changé d'une méthode thermofusible à un revêtement appliqué au solvant ou un ensemble de revêtements. Il était alors possible d'utiliser du polyester ou d'autres films plastiques comme substrat, au lieu de papier, bien que le nom restait du papier carbone.
