Noam Chomsky
Avram Noam Chomsky est un linguiste américain, un philosophe, un scientifique cognitif, un logicien, un commentateur politique et un activiste. Parfois qualifié de «père de la linguistique moderne», Chomsky est également une figure majeure de la philosophie analytique. Il a passé la majeure partie de sa carrière au Massachusetts Institute of Technology, où il est actuellement professeur émérite et a été l'auteur de plus de 100 livres. Il a été décrit comme une figure culturelle de premier plan, et a été élu «le meilleur intellectuel public mondial» dans un sondage de 2005. Né à une famille juive Ashkenazi bourgeoise à Philadelphie, Chomsky a développé un intérêt précoce pour l'anarchisme de la famille à New York. Il a ensuite entrepris des études en linguistique à l'Université de Pennsylvanie, où il a obtenu son BA, son MA et son doctorat, alors qu'il était de 1951 à 1955 pour la Société des boursiers de l'Université de Harvard.
