Cloud computing
L'informatique en nuage est un terme utilisé pour désigner un modèle d'informatique réseau où un programme ou une application s'exécute sur un ou plusieurs serveurs connectés plutôt que sur un périphérique informatique local tel qu'un PC, une tablette ou un smartphone. Comme le modèle client-serveur traditionnel ou l'ancien ordinateur central, un utilisateur se connecte à un serveur pour effectuer une tâche. La différence avec le cloud computing est que le processus informatique peut s'exécuter sur un ou plusieurs ordinateurs connectés en même temps, en utilisant le concept de virtualisation. Avec la virtualisation, un ou plusieurs serveurs physiques peuvent être configurés et partitionnés en plusieurs serveurs "virtuels" indépendants, tous fonctionnant indépendamment et apparaissant à l'utilisateur comme un seul périphérique physique. Ces serveurs virtuels sont essentiellement dissociés de leur serveur physique, et avec cette flexibilité accrue, ils peuvent être déplacés et mis à l'échelle ou à la volée sans que cela affecte l'utilisateur final. Les ressources informatiques sont devenues «granulaires», qui fournissent des avantages pour les utilisateurs finaux et les opérateurs, y compris le libre-service à la demande, un large accès sur plusieurs appareils, le partage de ressources, l'élasticité rapide et la capacité de mesure de service.
