Corepressor
Dans le domaine de la biologie moléculaire, un cardio-opérateur est une substance qui inhibe l'expression des gènes. Dans les procaryotes, les cardiopressions sont de petites molécules alors que dans les eucaryotes, les cardiopressions sont des protéines. Un corepressor ne se lie pas directement à l'ADN, mais régit indirectement l'expression des gènes en se liant aux répresseurs. Un corepressor downregulle l'expression des gènes en se liant et en activant un facteur de transcription du répresseur. Le répresseur se lie à son tour à un promoteur de gène, bloquant ainsi la transcription de ce gène.
